Uptime Magazine awarded Ternium Hylsa with the Special Award of Merit, one of the ten awards annually given to outstanding companies and professionals in the area of Predictive Maintenance. Winners were selected among over 240 entrants from around the world

Ternium Sidor, the leading steel producer in Venezuela, received the Special Award of Merit during the Uptime PdM Awards, a ceremony annually promoted by the international magazine Uptime to provide acknowledgement for companies and professionals specialized in Predictive Maintenance and Machinery Condition Monitoring.

The awards were presented at the 2006 Predictive Maintenance Technology Conference held in September in the city of Chattannoga in Tennessee, United States. The steel producer was selected from over 240 companies and positioned among the ten awarded companies, together with American and Canadian companies.

The Predictive Maintenance program implemented by the steel company oversees the general condition of 6300 pieces of rotating machinery and stood out for combining all predictive techniques in the same platform, such as vibration analysis, lubrication analysis, thermography, flow pattern analysis, non-destructive testing analysis and, additionally, for performing root cause failure analysis.

Selection of winning companies was conducted by the experts integrating the editorial advisory board of Uptime Magazine who considered the following categories: Vibration Analysis, Ultrasound Non-Destructive Control, Infrared Thermal Imaging, Motor Testing, Lubrication Analysis and Precision Maintenance.

Ternium Sidor regards Predictive Maintenance as one of the pillars of its maintenance philosophy, focusing on equipment reliability and optimization to ensure the quality of its steel products, operation continuity as well as care for human resources and the environment.
