The Ministry of Labor and Social Security gave recognition to three Ternium Mexico facilities. Planta Universidad, Apodaca Industrial Service Center, and Apodaca Commercial Service Center were awarded for their compliance with standards and for implementing actions towards continuous improvement as regards Safety.
Three Ternium Mexico facilities were awarded on 13th January for their Self-Management and Health Labor Program, issued by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security. Planta Universidad, Apodaca Industrial Service Center, and Apodaca Commercial Service Center were the awarded centers. This program promotes the installation and operation of Safety and Health Labor Management Systems, based on both national and international standards, in order to improve the operation of safer companies or labor centers. The program has three levels and a validation. Planta Universidad and Apodaca Industrial Service Center received a second level recognition for their compliance with standards and implementation of continuous improvement programs as regards Safety.
In addition to the achievement of the previous goals, the Apodaca Commercial Service Center also achieved its goals in Safety Management, and therefore this Center qualifies as level three. This recognition was hosted by Régulo Salinas, Ternium Institutional Manager; Hugo Solís, Industrial Manager; José Antonio Ramírez, Human Resources Manager; Fanny Arellanes, STPS Federal Representative, and Ausencio Reyes, Union Representative. During this event, Solís highlighted Ternium’s commitment to leading actions aiming at strengthening their collaborators.
“We have 170 high performance teams, made up of 3,500 people and 170 team leaders, who perform this Self-Management. That is why this recognition is so important for us. "We hope to keep improving and advancing in the Safety System”, said Solís. He added that they are working for the Juventud, Churubusco, and Tubería Pared Gruesa Plants to also be able to achieve this recognition. Salinas said that: “These recognitions are important because they help us motivate our people. We have invested a lot of time and effort in self-training and self-management, for them to take care of their own safety, which is what has been acknowledged by the Ministry of Labor”.
