How Is Ternium Advancing Its Sustainability Strategy? Explore Our 2025 Progress

Share

In 2025, Ternium invested $93 million in environmental, decarbonization, and energy efficiency projects, as well as $102 million in health and safety programs. The company also reached more than 15,500 people through its educational programs. Discover the key highlights from the new Sustainability Report, which reflects our daily efforts to build a sustainable steel industry.

The company made meaningful progress across its sustainability strategy through major investments, including Phase 3 of the Pesquería Industrial Center, as well as through the integration of technology and responsible practices throughout its operations. These achievements are detailed in Ternium's 2025 Sustainability Report, a document that highlights environmental, social and economic initiatives, together with the governance structures and mechanisms under which the company operates.

"It was a year of significant progress in executing our long-term agenda. The initiatives included in this report reflect our commitment to building a stronger, more sustainable Ternium that creates long-term value for our customers, our people, and the communities where we operate," says Máximo Vedoya, CEO of Ternium, in the report.

The report brings together data, indicators, projects, targets and progress that help stakeholders better understand the company. It serves as a valuable resource for learning more about Ternium's business and accessing key information about our operations. Here is a summary by topic:

What's New?

The report provides three resources for a deeper understanding of Ternium's evolution:

  • A timeline featuring the company's key environmental, social and governance (ESG) milestones since Ternium's listing on the New York Stock Exchange in 2006 (page 12).
  • An infographic detailing the positive environmental and community impact of Ternium's Pesquería Industrial Center, located in Mexico (page 14).
  • A diagram illustrating Ternium's industrial system, providing an overview of our main processes and products, while incorporating the integration of Usiminas and the start-up of the new steel shop in Pesquería (page 126).

Phase 3 of Ternium's Pesquería Industrial Center is the largest investment in the company's history.

A Snapshot of Ternium's Performance in 2025

Some of the key figures include:

  • $15.6 billion in net sales
  • 15.1 million tons of steel shipments
  • More than 33,300 employees operating across 9 countries
  • Production capacity of 22.3 million tons of finished steel products
How Is Ternium Advancing in Decarbonization and Energy Efficiency?

Projects included in the company's decarbonization roadmap continue to move forward, supported by new investments aimed at reducing emissions intensity throughout our value chain. One of the key developments this year is the incorporation of Usiminas into our target, updating the baseline year to 2024. Ternium aims to reduce emissions intensity by 15% per equivalent hot-rolled steel ton by 2030 compared with the 2024 baseline, considering Scopes 1, 2 and 3 (categories 1 and 10), in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG Protocol).

In 2025, the company invested $35 million in decarbonization and energy efficiency initiatives—excluding investments in Ternium's Pesquería Industrial Center—along with strategic investments across its production facilities.

If You're Interested in the Progress of Ternium's Pesquería Industrial Center

The Industrial Center in Pesquería continues to shape the company's industrial transformation. In 2025, the downstream project was completed and significant progress was made in the construction of the new steel shop, which will enable the annual production of 2.6 million tons of steel with lower emissions intensity. By the end of 2025, the industrial center employed 2,200 direct employees and had 7,700 contractors working on-site.

Nearly 10,000 people were involved in the construction of the new steel shop by the end of 2025.

Understanding How We Protect the Environment Across Our Operations

As part of Ternium's 2020–2030 Environmental Plan, projects focused on monitoring, operational efficiency and responsible water management continued to advance.

In addition to annual investments in decarbonization and energy efficiency, Ternium allocated $58 million to environmental projects in 2025. Between 2020 and 2025, the company implemented significant initiatives across its operations, such as increasing dust-capture capacity at the San Nicolás steel shop in Argentina; implementing the Automatic Network for Monitoring Fugitive Particulate Emissions (RAMP) in Brazil, which enables real-time identification of potential wind-driven emissions through continuous measurements and meteorological variables; and installing air-quality monitoring stations at the Guerrero facility and its surrounding areas in Mexico, allowing advanced data analysis and real-time reporting.

How Does Ternium Promote Safety Across Its Operations?

Ternium invested $102 million in health and safety programs, while continuing to integrate new technologies to strengthen the protection of our employees. These efforts include video analytics, use of drones for safety inspections, remote assistance for maintenance activities, high-risk scenario simulations and virtual reality applications for employee training.

Drones are being deployed to strengthen preventive safety measures.

In 2025, over 27,000 employees and contractors—including Usiminas personnel—received an average of 18 hours of training focused on Ternium's Occupational Health and Safety programs and preventive measures.

How Does Ternium Support Sustainable Development in the Communities Where It Operates?

Community impact also advanced significantly in 2025. The company invested $51 million in community programs—including both direct company contributions and donations from affiliated foundations—, over four times the $12 million invested in these initiatives during 2024. In addition, more than 1,300 scholarships were awarded through the Roberto Rocca Scholarship Program to support students in their educational journeys.

Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva attended the opening ceremony for the Roberto Rocca Technical School in Santa Cruz.

The Roberto Rocca Technical Schools continue to be a cornerstone of this commitment, expanding their reach and strengthening the education of future generations. In Santa Cruz, the school celebrated its first year of operation, while in Pesquería, the institution welcomed middle school students starting in 2025.
