More steel, less carbon footprint
Since 2008 we adhere to the World Steel Climate Action Recognition Program. We have a firm commitment to maximize efficiency in our production processes and to reduce CO2 emissions and thus minimize the carbon footprint. In 2014 we launched an energy efficiency program to identify and implement improvements in the management of resources. Since then, ee have managed to reduce CO2 emissions by 125.000 tons per year, while we capture 210.000 tons of CO2 per year. With the same production matrix as in the global steel industry, our CO2 emission per ton of liquid steel produced is below the world average of 1.9.
Global reporting initiative
Our Sustainability Report identifies key economic, social and environmental topics through a combination of industry research and benchmarking, international standards and priority subjects to evaluate Ternium's performance. It was established through a stakeholder consultation process including employees, suppliers, clients, community organizations, corporative associations, investors, press, and academic institutions.

An eco-efficient development
At Ternium we know that steel is essential for a sustainable future, and protection of the environment is one of our key values. This is why we have implemented a number of initiatives that minimize the impact of our processes and our carbon footprint and maximize efficient use of resources.
Our Environmental and Energy Policy, initially published in 2014 and updated in 2018, describes the principles and objectives that govern us. By implementing the highest management standards across all our operations, we strengthen our commitment to employees, local communities and future generations.
Industrial safety
At Ternium we consider safety as core value integrated into our business and production system. Our Zero-tolerance policy to exposures to serious and fatal injuries is an unwavering commitment in all our processes, industrial sites and value chain. Our safety culture and leadership stand out for the control of risk exposure and the permanent care among colleagues. Safety is key pillar of Ternium’s sustainability and our commitment must be acknowledged in the communities where we operate.
