The key to any structure is steel deck

Share

Ternium Losacero is a very resistant product, easy to install, and because it requires little skilled labor, it reduces costs substantially.

Buildings, industrial warehouses, commercial plazas, and sports arenas can be built in record time and high quality when Ternium´s Losacero steel deck is applied. A very resistant product, easy to install, and capable of reducing costs due to its low-skilled labor requirements.

The construction industry is continuously evolving, always looking for new ways to build more substantial structures, with less cost and in a minimum time frame. Amongst every construction challenge, the assembly and casting of concrete slabs is a priority, whether it is for rooftops as well as mezzanines.

Ternium Losacero makes it easier to set a casting surface for pouring concrete, thanks to the excellent structural resistance provided by its geometric features. This way, the falseworks´ traditional setting up can be avoided; therefore, time for manual labor and materials is reduced.

A robust structure

Steel deck is resistant due to the shape it takes during the grooving process, transforming itself from a smooth galvanized sheet into a structure capable of withstanding concrete´s weight.

The shape is well-calculated to offer the best structural resistance per square centimeter possible, and each project´s design determines the caliber or thickness of the required sheet.

A long-term process

The grooving process is achieved by a series of rolling pins –around 20- that little by little give a final shape to Ternium´s Losacero steel deck.

The first rolling pins give shape to peaks and valleys in the body of the sheet as well as embossing on the edges so they can be attached to become a single, continuous surface. Finishing this stage, these parts are cut to the client´s desired size, generally fluctuating between 3 and 14 meters. Subsequently, they are piled up and shipped out.

One of the main features of steel deck is that its shape is also designed so the parts can snap sideways to each other, thus forming a surface as big as required for the project.

Created for large surfaces

A solid, uniform, and resistant surface are achieved with steel deck; its “tray” shape allows concrete to be accumulated uniformly and to be distributed with ease during the pouring process.

The use of this steel deck is widely spread over the industry of large-scale metallic buildings, especially when large spaces are created, where the weight of the structure is placed upon sidewalls, and not many columns exist between the clearing space, as it happens in movie theaters, industrial warehouses, shopping malls, and sports arenas.
