Ternium’s Commitment for the Energy Efficiency

Share

March 5th: World Energy Efficiency Day

The decarbonization plan initiated by Ternium aims to reduce CO2 emissions by 20% per ton of steel produced by 2030. Within this process, energy efficiency plays a fundamental role since it contributes to the reduction of greenhouse gases and the preservation of the environment. We’ll tell you what we are doing at Ternium in this regard.

SOLUTIONS TO SAVE ENERGY

Under the name "Energy Efficiency Program", since 2014 there has been a team dedicated full-time to the subject. More than 470 energy-saving opportunities have been implemented, which represent a reduction of our greenhouse gas emissions in the order of 430,000 tons of CO2 per year.

INTERNATIONAL CERTIFICATIONS

Ternium is progressively implementing an Energy Management System based on the ISO 50001 standard.

The Rio de Janeiro Plant is currently certified in Brazil, the Steelworks and Lamination Departments in Argentina and Pesquería and Tenigal in Mexico, and the Reduction Department (Argentina) and the Guerrero Plant (Mexico) are in the process of being certified.

LESS CO2 EMISSIONS

Committed to caring for the environment, in March 2021 we presented at Ternium a plan to reduce CO2 emissions by 20% per ton of steel produced by 2030.
