Máximo Vedoya Appointed President of Alacero

Share

Due to concerns about China's progress across the entire value chain and within a complex global tariff context, the CEO of Ternium was re-elected to lead the association.

Following his appointment, Máximo Vedoya thanked the association's members for their trust. “I would like to thank all the members for electing me. I would also like to thank Jorge [Ribeiro de Oliveira] for his leadership and for the drive he brought to the association in the face of the common challenges facing the entire industry,” he said.

Referring to the recent edition of the Summit, Vedoya emphasized that he remains optimistic. He recalled that more than 20 years ago, ALACERO was already talking about the importance of manufacturing, as well as what was coming with China.

The president-elect emphasized that the new global context combines tensions and technological changes with opportunities for Latin America. “Today, governments are recognizing the role of industry, and Latin America is realizing that we have to compete, but always fairly: not through predatory practices or unfair competition, as China is doing,” he said.

Finally, he highlighted the association's role in promoting a Latin American industrial agenda: “At ALACERO, we will continue working, highlighting the issues and seeking solutions so that the industry can add value and grow stronger in Latin America,” he concluded.

The event concluded with the announcement of ALACERO Summit 2026, which will take place from November 9 to 11 and will be held in Mexico City.
