Ternium was recognized by worldsteel as one of the companies committed to sustainable development, receiving the Sustainability Champion award.
The Vientos de Olavarría Wind Farm, located in Argentina, is Ternium’s first large-scale renewable energy project and received the Steelie Award for Excellence in Sustainability, granted by worldsteel in October 2025.
For eight consecutive years, Ternium has received the Sustainability Champion distinction, and 2026 was no exception. This recognition is awarded to members of the World Steel Association (worldsteel) that demonstrate a clear commitment and decisive actions toward sustainable development.
To be considered Sustainability Champions, companies are required to provide Life Cycle Inventory (LCI) data covering at least 60% of their crude steel production over the past five years. Additionally, they must reach the shortlist in one of the six Steelie Awards categories or have been recognized with the worldsteel Safety and Health Recognition.
Regarding this latter requirement, in October 2025 Ternium received a Steelie Award in the Excellence in Sustainability category for its project “Winds of Change: Ternium’s First Step into Renewable Energy in Argentina.” The company was also shortlisted in the Excellence in Communication Programmes and Excellence in People categories.
The publication of Ternium’s 2024 Sustainability Report is also part of this recognition, as it transparently outlines the company’s environmental, social and economic initiatives, as well as the governance structures and mechanisms under which it operates.
